Accessibility

What we aim for

This site is built to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is our target, not a certification. No independent audit has been carried out against it, and we would rather say so than imply one has.

What is built in

• Every page has one main heading and a heading structure you can navigate with, rather than text styled to look like headings.
• Every image carries alternative text that describes what is in it.
• The site works without a mouse. Links and form controls can be reached with the Tab key and show a visible focus outline.
• A “Skip to content” link is the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page, so you can pass the navigation.
• Text is real text, not pictures of text, so it reflows and scales when you zoom or change your text size.
• Nothing moves, flashes, plays sound, or expires on a timer.
• The page language is declared, so a screen reader pronounces the content correctly.
• The phone number is a link on every page, so a tap or a keyboard press places the call.
• The inquiry form has a visible label on every field, and errors are described in words rather than by colour alone.

What we know is imperfect

• Directions links open Google Maps, which is a separate service we do not control and cannot speak for.
• The certificate on the about page is a photograph of a paper document. Its text is described in the alternative text and repeated in the page copy, but the image itself cannot be enlarged without losing quality.
• Some pages use expandable question and answer blocks. They work with a keyboard, but if your browser does not support them, use the browser find function on the page instead.
• Some navigation links are styled without an underline and rely on position and weight to read as links. In running text, links are underlined.
• This statement has not been checked by an outside auditor.
